Summer 2009
To Upper School Parents and Students:
The English Department and Library welcome you to the summer months and know you will enjoy this leisure time. Summer provides an opportunity for our students to discover a slower pace to their days. Summer reading helps students to delve deeply into new ideas, increase their language and writing skills, and simply relax. We strongly encourage students to make the time to read a wide range of books. With this in mind, the English Department and Library have put together this Upper School Summer Reading website to help students with their choices.
Students must read the book from the Required Reading list that corresponds to their fall semester class. We encourage students to read this book in the late summer before their return to classes. Students have been provided this required reading selection.
Students should read four (4) additional books of their own choosing. We have provided lists of contemporary fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama, as well as the award winning books of the past year as suggested reading.
We look forward to an exciting year and wish all of you a summer of good reading!
